The Story of the Secret King

A Certain Story of Initiation. A Secret Cabal within a Secret Order.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

I started my career in Ordo Templi Orientis under the direction of Hymenaeus Alpha. That fact accounts for the strange path my career took thereafter. After the death of Alpha, something strange happened at one of my initiations.
My initiator suffered from various ailments, and when I entered the Temple, there was a quick discussion. He was weary, would Y happen to have a charter to initiate? Y did. Did I mind? I didn't. I saw the charter, it had the necessary details.
The initiation went forward as planned. It wasn't until later that I learned that my initiation wasn't exactly "by the book". The changes to the ritual were minor. The addition of a single phrase and one other peculiar change. On that phrase and change was hung some additional instruction.
"Watch and Wait" was the first instruction.
"This is Grady's Secret Teaching" was the second.
"There is a Secret King Within the Order" was the third.
"The Watchword is, We are all Kings" was the fourth.

I was then instructed exactly what conditions to watch. I was told that I was part of Grady's experiment. Being an American, he took some offence at Crowley's opinion of succession by democracy. However, he feared that Crowley was right. So, he appointed a Secret King, and mandated that the next Caliph be chosen by a vote of the IX°.
The Secret King is always to remain Secret, and to be passed on in succession. I was told that his remaining secret is to remind us that
"We are All Kings"

This is the phrase that was added to the initiation ritual, and it was also incorporated into the recognition system.
I also was to remain secret. I was told that there were others, but that I was not to look for them, nor try to recognize them. I have followed that instruction.
I was given the IX° Secret and Examination, and told that upon my activation, the latter should be given to all. I was told to wait some more, to see who would turn against me, thinking I had violated my Oaths. I was told to meditate upon the similarity of this event with the matter of my initiation. One who has taken it will know immediately to what I refer.
I was told to then make public the Watchword. I was told to write this letter describing my initiation and the reasons for these events, and announce the existence of the Secret King.
The Motto of the Secret King is:
Alius Alia Via Ad Astra Ascendit

or
"Each finds his own path to the Stars"

I find it of great interest that there are 6 letters [Tiphareth], and that the initials add to 11 [as all their numbers who are of us]. Futhermore, the 2A - V - 3A sequence would relate to Chokmah - Tiphareth - Binah, while the total of 11 indicates both Kether and Malkuth, as well as Da'ath. It also seems to be strongly connected with Crowley's Motto as M.T., "V.V.V.V.V." The only thing I haven't been able to find in it, which surprises me, is a direct numerical reference to Yesod. I suppose one could say that it is "included" A - AVAA - A = 1 - 9 - 1, but that is not as satifying as the other indicators.
